The 47th Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament July 24 - 28, 2006 The Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament (HIBT) is known around the world as the “Grandfather of All Big Game Fishing Tournaments”. This 46-year-old non-profit tournament was founded by Peter S. Fithian and six others to publicize Hawaii’s Kona Coast through the medium of a big game fishing contest. The HIBT has become a tradition in the coastal town of Kailua-Kona, located on the Big Island of America’s 50th State. Internationally recognized, the HIBT has attracted world famous celebrities like Richard Boone, Duke Kahanamoku and the Duke of Manchester. It has set the precedent for similar tournaments worldwide. The HIBT has brought anglers to Hawaii from around the world including: Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Philippines, Africa, France, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Tahiti, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Canada and the Mainland U.S. The five day fishing tournament begins with the team registration and a tournament briefing for all anglers and boat skippers; followed by a “Boat Draw” in which team captains draw the names of the five different boats from which they will be fishing each day. Later that evening anglers get together for our fabulous Chef’s Night Meet-the-Teams Party, where the boat captains will meet the teams they will be fishing with. A variety of activities including island tours, historical trips and other exciting activities are scheduled for the wives, families and friends while the anglers are offshore seeking their thousand pound marlins (“Granders”). Five days of fishing and events for the anglers during the week include the Meet-the-Teams Party, a daily HIBT Raffle, the Crying Towel Party and finally the Awards Banquet at the beautiful Kona Village Resort. The HIBT has one of the best marlin hookup ratios of any tournament on earth. Come fish the flat waters of Kona and find out what World Class Big Game Fishing is all about!Hawaii Stargazing

Pearl Harbor Headquarters Home of the Brave - Hawaii's Exclusive WWII Battlefield Tour We will remain the land of the free as long as we are the home of the brave Your tour includes visiting all of the following locations Pearl Harbor Visitor Center Arizona Memorial Wheeler Army Airfield Schofield Army Barracks Fort shafter Punchbowl National Memorial Downtown Honolulu Home of the Brave Headquarters The Star Spangled Banner Lyrics (The Defense of Fort McHenry) September 20, 1814 By Francis Scott Key Oh, say can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming? And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep, Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, now conceals, now discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In full glory reflected now shines on the stream: 'Tis the star-spangled banner! O long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave. And where is that band who so vauntingly swore That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion A home and a country should leave us no more? Their blood has wiped out their foul footstep's pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave: And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave. Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand Between their loved homes and the war's desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven-rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation. Then conquer we must, for our cause it is just, And this be our motto: "In God is our trust." And the star-spangled banner forever shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!Hawaii Cycling

Win the Ironman Lottery
If you are a triathlete, there is no bigger day in this sport than the Ford Ironman World Championship. It is the race that defined our sport as it came of age, and continues to be the defining race in our sport for any avid triathlete. To get to the starting line in Kona, you must either be very lucky and get yourself a spot through the lottery, or very talented, and win yourself a qualifying spot at one of the qualifying events held around the world. Tens-of-thousands of triathletes try to get one of those coveted Ironman spots every year. Only 1,700 succeeded. That means 1,700 "lucky" people get to test themselves on one of the biggest challenges the sports world has to offer ... 2.4-miles of swimming, 112-miles of biking, and a 26.2-mile marathon run through tough ocean waves, and challenging lava-covered terrain. While there are thousands of triathlons around the world, it is this one that truly defines the sport. It was this race, first run in 1978 as a dare by a bunch of Navy Seals that put triathlon on the world's sporting map. It is triathlon's Super Bowl, Wimbledon, World Series, World Cup, and Tour de France all rolled into one. What makes this event so unique is that "average" people get to compete alongside the best in the world.
