Fireworks on the Beach in Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara Patriotic Association for the Return of Kabooms to Light the Sky for Everyone SPARKLE believes that the Fourth of July is a day to celebrate our American Heritage, honor our active and veteran military personnel, and be sure that everyone, especially our children, understand what Independence Day is about. They need to know why we celebrate, what those kabooms bursting in the sky represent - A generation who fought for and died for the freedom of future generations. It is truly electrifying to be on the beach, the awesome fireworks in the sky, people holding American flags, the sound of the public reacting to the intensity of the display. 80,000 people come together in a display of love of country and community. Santa Barbara has a patriotic parade in the afternoon

Please join us this Fourth of July as we honor the anniversary of our Nation's Independence Day and the birth of Democracy, with an Old Fashioned Parade and a most Patriotic of Patriotic Rallies. The "Spirit of '76" Association and its all-volunteer committee have been presenting this birthday celebration for the past 41 years. This year marks our 41st anniversary date.

The Parade starts at 1 o'clock at the corner of Micheltorena and State St. This grand march continues down State Street toward the Pacific, to end at Cota St. in Santa Barbara's Historic Old Town.

Have fun, be creative as we celebrate this year's theme: "Free Enterprise".

And just at the end of the parade in Santa Barbara's "Old Town"(the 400 block of State St.), view an extraordinary exhibit of Vintage Military Vehicles, some dating from WWII. The Model T Ford, classic and unique automobiles from private collections and personal, one-of-a-kind vehicles, will also be on display.

Take time to pause and reflect on the values of our Nation's heritage by atending the "Celebrate America" Patriotic Rally. Chase Palm Park, the jewel of Santa Barbara park, will host the traditional event in the grassy meadow at the pavillion beginning at 3:30 P.M.

Completing your day, on the sands of the Pacific will be a memorable conclusion to America's 229th Birthday Party. Fireworks! Lots of fireworks.

Blue Lake Tahoe reports:

Lights on the Lake – July 4 is Lake Tahoe’s highly rated summer event. Rated as the best place to watch the July 4th holiday fireworks by Travelocity on msnbc.com (June 2005) the show is reflected in the crystalline waters of Lake Tahoe and the light explosions inspire awe among visitors and residents alike. South Shore’s sandy beaches offer ideal viewing, as do the M.S. Dixie II and Tahoe Queen paddle wheelers. More than 100,000 people watch the South Shore fireworks annually. Launched from an offshore barge, the fireworks are visible from all over town.

The pyrotechnic display is 30 minutes long and features a wide variety of patterns, lights, designs and shapes. The precisely timed blast offs are synchronized to the soundtrack and controlled via computer. Created by Pyro Spectaculars, Inc. and fired by Pyrodigital Consultants, Lights on the Lake was rated one of the Top 10 “must see” events by the American Pyrotechnics Association and is the biggest display west of the Mississippi. The simultaneous music broadcast can be heard on local stations KRLT-FM 93.9 and KOWL-AM 1490.
