Sunset Magazine says All-Outdoors is among the best in the state. The American River trips are just an hour or so away from Sacramento.

In Lake Tahoe, you can float with the Truckee River Raft Company down the Truckee River.

A GREAT 2-3 HOURS in which you enjoy a leisurely, self guided, 5- mile float on the Truckee River from Tahoe City to the River Ranch Bar, Restaurant & Hotel. We are the only rafting concession that exits directly into the River Ranch landing. Have lunch, drinks or just enjoy the view. You can catch a free shuttle bus back to your car at anytime until 6 p.m. daily.

The River Ranch Lodge sits on the banks of the scenic Truckee River, a beautiful location for your Lake Tahoe stay, dinner or special event. This historic lodge features 19 handsome rooms, a dining room and bar cantilevered over the river, a second dining room with warm stone fireplace, and a spacious riverside patio. Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway or throwing a party for 150, the River Ranch is a wonderful place for your next Tahoe visit.

The River Ranch offers a warm, casual atmosphere, fine dining, welcoming lounge, and cozy, convenient accommodations... Perfect for any season.

In the winter the River Ranch welcomes skiers and boarders from nearby Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows as well as many other ski resorts in the area. Stay close to the slopes, relax and enjoy a cocktail in our popular apr├ęs ski fireplace lounge, or experience our award winning restaurant, a year-round favorite of both visitors and local residents.

In warmer weather the patio becomes a lively hub of summer activities including barbecue lunch daily, weddings and an occasional high-spirited concert. Visitors arrive by river raft, car or from the bicycle/walking path running along the property. Once dinner begins, however, the spirit remains casual while the mood becomes more tranquil and the service more formal. Whether you sit inside or on the patio, the river setting is perfect for dinner on a summer evening

Even if you don't raft, the patio at the River Ranch is a fabulous place for a beer in the sun.

Another great California rafting company is W.E.T. River Trips founded in 1978 in Sacramento, California. http://www.raftwet.com
You will find tons of information on rafting and rivers throughout California and the western United States on their website. W.E.T. is the only whitewater rafting company based in California's state capitol in Sacramento.
